Research programmes
The SPEED Laboratory undertakes research programmes of the type funded by UK or European agencies, particularly the
UK's EPSRC. Some of our recent research programmes are:
- Helical windings for high-speed brushless PM motors
- Synchronous reluctance motors and their control
- High performance control of switched reluctance motors
- High-temperature IGBT's and applications
- Power electronics CAD
We also support Ph.D. research programmes which are generally undertaken by scholarship postgraduate students:
- Sensorless control of synchronous reluctance motors
- Sensorless control of switched reluctance motors
- A new PM brushless motor with wide speed range
- Torsional interactions in power systems
- Flux-MMF diagram
